Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer among men. Prostate cancer is especially frequent in men over fifty. The malignant neoplasms of the prostate are very slow growing, so that is why men over fifty are the most at risk. Factors like diet and genetics have been implicated in the development of prostate cancer. It is very important to create an environment where cancer can´t grow and expand. So the diet is very important in preventing and also curing cancer.
Macrobiotic Diets have been very successful in curing various types of cancer like prostate cancer. Macrobiotics is based on the writings of Sagen Ishizuka (1850-1910) a Japanese physician, who cured himself of cancer. He accomplished that by reverting back to the unpurified Japanese diet, abandoning the refined diet of affluent Japan. His diet consisted of soybeans, brown rice, miso soup, fish, sea vegetables etc.

The macrobiotic diet is basically a vegetarian diet that consists of 50% whole cereal grains, about 30% of white meat, fish, locally grown vegetables and some amounts of sweet potatoes, potatoes, eggplants, tomatoes, spinach, pepper, asparagus, zucchini, mayonnaise, avocados, coffee, tea and no read meat.
This diet helps because it is low in fat (processed), high in vegetables, high in fiber, it has the ability to change an acid environment into alkaline, there is improved sodium to potassium ratio, sea vegetables contain thyroid stimulating substances, anti-cancer agents found in soybeans, sea vegetables and other fresh foods etc.
Anthony J. Sattilaro an anaesthesiologist at Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia said this diet as the reason he recovered from metastatic prostrate cancer. In 1978 Michio Kushi established a macrobiotic center in Boston and he has encouraged cancer patients to continue with conventional care. Kushi also stated that cancer occurs mostly due to improper diet and personal behaviour, but also because of the lifestyle and the wrong way of thinking. The main goal of this diet is to detoxifie the body from toxic conditions and therefore make an environment that is unsuitable for the cancer.
