Mayo Clinic Diet - Burning Fat With Grapefruit

There are many diets out there that tout they are the best way for an individual to lose weight. They have claims from 'doctors' to the effectiveness, but overall very few, if any work.

Every year, a new diet comes out that millions begin to follow, which may or may not work, and this year it is the Mayo Clinic diet that is taking off as the 'in' diet for this year.

The diet claims that cardiac wards in hospitals give patients this diet when they need to lose weight quickly for surgery or some other health manner. On this claim, the promoters of the diet tout its incredible effectiveness at helping people lose weight in no time at all.

The Mayo Clinic diet is based on eggs, meat and grapefruit. Grapefruit, according to supporters of the diet, is a catalyst to help burn away fat, so it can help individuals shed off the pounds quickly as the daily diet of grapefruit begins to work its magic inside the individual's body.

However, as with any diet there are problems. First, this diet is high in cholesterol and saturated fat, mostly due to the high concentration of eggs in the diet. As a result, both the British Heart Foundation and American Heart Association warn that the Mayo Clinic Diet can cause heart problems in individuals due to the high cholesterol and saturated fat contents in the diet.

That is not to say it won't work. Perhaps done in moderation it can be much more effective for individuals who are looking to lose weight, maybe a few times a week at the most. However, it is best not to make this your daily diet because of the risk of heart problems down the road due to this diet, as doctors claim.

If you do want to lose weight with the Mayo Clinic diet, you can simply take the most essential part of it, grapefruit, and add that to your diet. Grapefruit is a catalyst to burn off fat, so adding it into your diet a couple times a week will help you lose weight, without the worry of severe heart problems because of the high cholesterol and saturated fat in the eggs.

The choice is yours, some claim the Mayo Clinic Diet works while others do not. It may work for some people, and it may work for you. However, as with any diet, it is very important you do it in moderation.

The Mayo Clinic Diet is one of the most popular diets currently out on the market. Thousands of people use it every day as they try and lose weight. Claimed to be used by cardiac patients in hospitals as a way to lose weight fast, this diet is considered to be very effective by those who use it because of the fat burning ability of grapefruit.

However, as with any diet, there are problems and those come in heart problems because of the high cholesterol and saturated fat that can be present. Use it in moderation and see if it works for you.
